The Mayor of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, Joseph Estrada, has declared Monday, January 9, 2017, as a one-off non-working municipal public holiday on account of the upcoming annual Procession of the Black Nazarene.

Similar municipal public holidays have been declared in Manila in the past (05-Oct-2015, 23-Dec-2014, 18-Jun-2013, 08-Jun-2011, 22-Jun-2010,...), and are in addition to the list of 2017 non-working public holidays in the Philippines, as set out in Proclamation No. 50, s. 2016 released this past summer (18-Aug-2016).
