The Mayor of Manila, the capital of the Philippines, Joseph Estrada, has declared Monday, January 9, 2017, as a one-off non-working municipal public holiday on account of the upcoming annual Procession of the Black Nazarene.
Similar municipal public holidays have been declared in Manila in the past (2015-10-05, 2014-12-23, 2013-06-18, 2011-06-08, 2010-06-22,...), and are in addition to the list of 2017 non-working public holidays in the Philippines, as set out in Proclamation No. 50, s. 2016 released this past summer (2016-08-18).
