A press statement released by the Chief Minister’s Office of Malaysia's state of Sarawak has announced that the state government of Sarawak had decided to also declare Monday, April 24, 2017, as a one-off non-working public holiday on account of the upcoming installation of Sultan Muhammad V as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The aforementioned announcement that the state government of Sarawak had decided to also declare Monday, April 24, 2017, as a one-off non-working public holiday on account of the upcoming installation of Sultan Muhammad V as the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, follows Monday's announcement (2017-04-03) by Malaysian Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, that Monday, April 24, 2017, would be a one-off non-working public holiday in Malaysia, and yesterday's announcement (2017-04-04) by the State Secretary of Malaysia's state of Sabah, Tan Sri Sukarti Wakiman, that the state government of Sabah had also decided to declare Monday, April 24, 2017, as a one-off non-working public holiday.

As was the case 5 years ago (2012-03-07, 2012-03-16 and 2012-02-24), due to the peculiarities of Malaysia's public holidays legislation, even in the case of national public holidays declarations, the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak must officially declare these national public holidays separately.
