South Korea Public Holiday October 2

(Posted on Friday, July 7, 2017)

Source: Yonhap News Agency (Seoul)

The Government of South Korea decided to declare Monday, October 2, 2017, as a one-off (temporary) non-working public holiday in South Korea, to link the annual Chuseok South Korean public holiday with the preceding weekend and thus create a 9-day period of South Korean non-working public holidays and boost the economy.

The aforementioned declaration of Monday, October 2, 2017, as a one-off ("temporary") non-working public holiday in South Korea, thus amends the list of the official dates of 2017 South Korean annual non-working public holidays, including those based on the Korean lunar calendar, and those 2017 South Korean public holidays which fall on a Sunday, as announced by the Government of South Korea, over a year ago (08-Dec-2015).

Last year (28-Apr-2016), the Government of South Korea similarly declared Friday, May 6, 2016, as a one-off (temporary) non-working public holiday in South Korea, to link the annual Orimal (Children's Day) South Korean public holiday with the subsequent weekend, and the summer before that (04-Aug-2015), the South Korean government approved a previous proposal (02-Aug-2015) to declare Friday, August 14, 2015, the day before the annual National Liberation Day non-working public holiday of South Korea, as a one-off ("temporary") non-working public holiday in South Korea, due to the annual Liberation Day non-working public holiday falling on a Saturday in 2015, the 70th anniversary of South Korea's liberation.
