Earlier today, Bangladesh's National Moon Sighting Committee and Religious Affairs Committee announced that the moon of the month of Shaban had been sighted in Bangladesh's sky, and therefore that the upcoming Shab-e-Barat (night of fortune and forgiveness) would be celebrated on Tuesday night, May 1st, 2018, to be accompanied by the corresponding annual non-working public holiday in Bangladesh, the next day.
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the official list of 2018 non-working public holidays in Bangladesh, as contained in the official announcement of the list of 2018 public holidays in Bangladesh (2017-11-06), as the non-working public holiday related to the Shab-e-Barat is observed on the day which follows the Shab-e-Barat in Bangladesh (2017-04-29, 2016-05-08, 2015-05-20, 2014-05-29 and 2013-06-10).
