Belarusian President, Alexander Lukashenko, has ruled-out the introduction of a new annual non-working public holiday in Belarus, on March 25, the day when the Belarusian People's Republic (BPR) was declared in 1918.

As per the BelTA state-run news agency, President Lukashenko is quoted as saying that "The talk of making March 25 a public holiday is premature", adding, off the record, that for as long as he is president, this will not happen.
