The government of Benin has released a communiqué signed by Benin's Minister of Labour, Mathys Adidjatou, announcing that Wednesday, August 1, 2018, had been declared as a non-working public holiday throughout Bénin.
The aforementioned declaration of Wednesday, August 1, 2018, had been declared as a non-working public holiday throughout Bénin ("conformément aux dispositions de la loi N°90-019 du 27 juillet 1990, la journée du mercredi 1er août 2018 est déclarée fériée, chômée et payée sur toute l’étendue du territoire national."), is in line with the previously-announced list of annual non-working public holidays in the Benin for the calendar year 2018, as announced by the government of Benin, earlier this year (2018-01-24), as well as with the "loi n°90-019 du 27 juillet 1990 fixant les fêtes légales en République du Bénin".
