The Governing Mayor of Germany's city-state of Berlin, Michael Müller, has finally announced his preferred date, as March 18, for the new annual public holiday to be declared in Germany's city-state of Berlin.
With only nine annual public holidays, the city-state of Berlin is one of the federal states with the fewest days off, and Müller's preference for March 18 is quoted in the Berliner Morgenpost as follows: "My personal favorite is the 18th of March, because I find it very appealing to honor the events of the March Revolution of 1848 in Berlin".
