Canada Day In Lieu Public Holidays Clarification

(Posted on Monday, June 18, 2018)

Source: Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST)

The Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) of Canada's Province of Quebec has issued a communique reminding the population that whenever June 24 and July 1 fall on a Sunday, as is the case this year, both give rise to a day in lieu public holiday on the following Mondays, June 25 and July 2, respectively.

The aforementioned announcement ("Lorsque le 24 juin et le 1er juillet sont un dimanche, comme c’est le cas cette année, des dispositions particulières doivent être appliquées en vertu de la Loi sur les normes du travail et de la Loi sur la fête nationale") is in contrast to the attempts to remove these days in lieu, a decade ago (02-Jun-2007).
