Chad's President, Idriss Déby, has announced that International Women's Day, on March 8, would henceforth be an annual non-working public holiday in Chad.

The aforementioned announcement that International Women's Day, on March 8, would henceforth be an annual non-working public holiday in Chad ("La journée de la femme du 8 mars sera désormais chômée et payée") represents the first change to Chad's public holidays for almost a decade (2011-08-10), apart from the odd one-off public holiday (2013-07-04, 2013-05-12, 2011-08-06, 2011-05-04, 2010-11-08).
