The Chilean Democracia Cristiana party, has introduced a bill in the Chilean Congress to declare October 5 as a new annual non-working public holiday in Chile.

The aforementioned declaration of October 5 as a new annual non-working public holiday in Chile, called Día Nacional de la Democracia, would mark the 30th anniversary of the 1988 referendum.

This bill, as many other similar ones in the recent past (2017-06-27, 2016-09-04, 2013-09-17, 2013-04-09, 2012-09-12 and 2012-03-26), has little chance of passing into law as a new annual non-working public holiday in Chile.
