The Guatemalan Government has released its annual list of official non-working public holidays in Guatemala for the calendar year 2018.
The aforementioned dates of the aforementioned list of official non-working public holidays in Guatemala for the calendar year 2018, as before (15-Jan-2017, 25-Jan-2016 and 03-Jan-2015), are in line with the terms of the DECRETO NÚMERO 42-2010 ("Ley que promueve el Turismo Interno") (16-Nov-2010), passed in 2010, which mandates that fixed-date public holidays falling on a Tuesday be moved to the previous Monday, while those falling on a Wednesday or Thursday, are to be moved to the following Friday ("los feriados que caigan martes se gozarán un día antes, y los que caigan miércoles o jueves pasarán al viernes"), while the date of fixed-date public holidays falling on a weekend are to remain unchanged ("los de sábado y domingo no cambian").
In 2018, the "Decreto Número 42-2010" will have no effect on the dates of the 2018 non-working public holidays of Guatemala.
