The Government of India's state of Punjab, has once again amended the list of of the days which are non-working public holidays in India's state of Punjab for the calendar year 2018, this time by moving the Kabir Jayanti from the list of restricted holidays in India's state of Punjab to the list of gazetted public holidays in India's state of Punjab.

The aforementioned announcement that June 28 would be a gazetted public holiday in India's state of Punjab was made by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh.

Recall that, late last year (2017-12-30), less than a week after it announced the list of Punjab 2018 public holidays in its Notification No.6/7/2017-2PP3/S91 (2017-12-28), the Government of India's state of Punjab, facing widespread criticism by opposition parties and religious organizations, amended its list of the days which were to be non-working public holidays in India's state of Punjab for the upcoming calendar year 2018, by restoring 3 public holidays that had been moved to the restricted list of Punjab holidays for 2018: Maha Shivrarti, Vaisakhi, and the Martyrdom day of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.

As compared to last year's list of public holidays in India's state of Punjab (2016-12-18), the list of Government Holidays and Restricted Holidays in India's state of Punjab for the calendar year 2018, was sharply reduced, though we did point out that later one-off announcements of public holidays in India's state of Punjab were always possible (2017-12-24, 2017-09-01 and 2017-04-22).
