The Government of India's state of Tamil Nadu has declared a one-off non-working public holiday on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, following the death of DMK patriarch, M Karunanidhi.

The aforementioned announcement that India's state of Tamil Nadu had declared a one-off non-working public holiday on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, thus further amends (2018-06-14) the "G.O.Ms.No.937, Dated the 7th November 2017", listing the dates that are "in addition to Sundays expressly defined as Public Holidays" in India's state of Tamil Nadu, as released last autumn (2017-11-08).

Neighboring state of Puducherry has also declared a one-off non-working public holiday on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, following the death of DMK patriarch, M Karunanidhi (2018-08-07).
