The annual list of bank holidays and non-working public holidays in the Republic of Ireland for the calendar year 2020, has been released.
As usual (2017-07-03, 2016-07-04, 2015-07-07, 2014-07-03, 2011-11-18 and 2013-01-14), the aforementioned list of bank holidays and non-working public holidays in the Republic of Ireland for the calendar year 2020, includes non-working public holidays as well as banks-only non-working days, and pointedly specifies that "Good Friday is not a public holiday. While some schools and businesses close on that day, you have no automatic entitlement to time off work on that day".
The listing of 2020 public holidays in Ireland further clarifies the matter of day in lieu public holidays in Ireland as follows: "Note that where a public holiday falls on a weekend, you do not have any automatic legal entitlement to have the next working day off work. This means that Monday 28 December 2020 is not a public holiday.".
