The government of the Ivory Coast, through its Minister of Labour ("Ministère de l’Emploi et de la Protection Sociale"), has announced that it had declared Monday, August 6, 2018, the day before the upcoming National Day public holiday, as a one-off non-working public holiday (la veille de la fête de l'indépendance est déclaré jour férié et chômé).
As per the aforementioned announcement, and as was the case 6 years ago (2012-08-03), the declaration of Monday, August 6, 2018, as a one-off non-working public holiday only applies to the private sector ("Pour les signataires de la convention collective interprofessionnelle du 20 juillet 1977 et conformément et aux dispositions de l’article 65 de ladite convention, le lundi 06 aout 2018, veille de la fête d'indépendance, est jour férié et chômé").
On the occasion of last year's National Day, it was August 8 which had been declared a day in lieu non-working public holiday (jour férié chômé et payé) throughout the Ivory Coast (2016-08-04) as had also been done under similar circumstances, six years before that (2011-08-04).
