The Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Muhammedkaliy Abylgaziyev, has signed a decree confirming the broad lines of the earlier draft resolution "On the transfer of the weekend in 2019" issued by the Ministry of Social Development of Kyrgyzstan.

Earlier this month (2018-12-06), the Ministry of Social Development of Kyrgyzstan had issued a draft resolution "On the transfer of the weekend in 2019" which was to create a 7-day period of non-working public holidays in Kyrgyzstan around the upcoming New Year 2019 public holiday of Kyrgyzstan and a 4-day period of non-working public holidays in May 2019.

That draft resolution, as was the case last year (2017-12-04 and 2017-12-01), is a repeat of 2016, and the "Government Resolution Dated December 12, 2016 No.665 About Transfer Of The Working Day" (2016-12-14 and 2016-11-26).

In the years before, the initial declaration of the annual public holidays in Kyrgyzstan for the upcoming calendar year (2015-12-24, 2015-12-09, 2015-07-14, 2013-12-22, 2013-01-04, 2012-03-14 and 2011-01-01), was often followed by the piecemeal declaration of one-off bridge non-working public holidays throughout the year, compensated by declaring a weekend day as a regular working day (2016-04-20, 2016-02-16, 2015-12-24, 2014-12-26, 2013-04-28, 2011-12-31, 2010-11-11, 2010-08-25, 2010-02-15, 2009-12-11, 2008-12-19 and 2007-12-27).
