Omani authorities have announced the date of the upcoming 2018 annual non-working public holiday in Oman for the Prophet's Ascension (Al Isra'a Wal Miraj) for both the private sector and the public sector of Oman, as Sunday, April 15, 2018.
As per a decision by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal bin Saud al Busaidi, Oman's Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, employees at ministries, public authorities and other departments of the state's administrative apparatus will observe a non-working public holiday on Sunday, April 15, 2018, on account of the upcoming Prophet's Ascension, and in a separate communiqué, Oman's Manpower Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Bakri, issued a ministerial decision declaring Sunday, April 15, 2018, as a non-working public holiday for employees of Omani private sector companies and establishments.
As was done in recent years (2017-04-17, 2015-05-10, 2014-05-20 and 2013-06-02), but contrary to what happened before (2011-06-26), the dates of the upcoming non-working public holidays for the Prophet's Ascension (Al Isra'a Wal Miraj) were not changed as compared to the religious calendar, nor was an extra day of public holiday given, as was done on some past occasions (2012-06-10).
