The Romanian Government has announced that both Mondays, December 24 and 31, 2018, had been declared a one-off non-working public sector holiday throughout Romania to link the Christmas and New Year public holidays of Romania with the preceding weekend.
The aforementioned declaration of Mondays, December 24 and 31, 2018, had been declared a one-off non-working public sector holiday throughout Romania thus amending the lists of public holidays for 2018 in Romania (2017-12-31), once more (2018-08-02, 2018-04-12, 2018-03-12, 2018-02-28 and 2018-02-25), though only for the Romanian public sector.
As is common in such cases (2013-12-13, 2013-08-14, 2012-11-28 and 2012-04-26) when bridge public holidays are declared in Romania, the aforementioned one-off non-working public sector holidays will be compensated by overtime work to be performed in January 2019.
Last year (2017-12-20), the Romanian Labor Minister, Lia Olguţa Vasilescu, had issued a statement, on the facebook page of her ministry, ruling-out any extension of the upcoming December 25 and 26 public holidays in Romania ("27, 28 and 29 December will not be free days").
