The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Russian Federation has released its annual "Government Resolution On The Transfer Of Public Holidays in 2019", which, as usual, proposes, for online comments by the population, a draft list of official public holidays and bridge holidays in Russia for the upcoming calendar year 2019.

As per the aforementioned as yet unnumbered and undated decree released yesterday, "Government Resolution On The Transfer Of Public Holidays in 2019", and as was done in previous years (2017-10-18, 2017-09-14, 2017-05-14, 2017-03-17, 2016-08-04, 2015-09-26, 2015-06-19, 2014-08-30, 2014-05-23, 2013-06-03, 2012-10-17, 2012-09-29, 2011-07-21, 2010-08-24, 2009-11-10, 2008-11-28, 2007-08-11, 2007-01-06, 2006-11-11, and 2005-12-28), whenever a fixed-date annual public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, the preceding Monday or Friday is usually declared a one-off bridge public holiday, to be compensated by declaring a nearby Saturday to be a regular working day.

However, this year, as was the case for the past 3 years, some of the day in lieu public holidays that would have been mandated by the amendments to Article 112 of Russia's Labour Code (2004-12-30), have been moved to dates that would in previous years have been bridge public holidays to be compensated by a working Saturday, a practice which has not been very productive.
