The government of Slovakia has approved a recommendation by Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer) who had proposed that Slovakia should celebrate the centenary of its independence with a one-off non-working public holiday in Slovakia on October 30, 2018.
The aforementioned declaration of a one-off non-working public holiday in Slovakia on October 30, 2018, to celebrate the centenary of Slovakia's independence, thus amends the annual official list of 2018 Slovakian bank holidays and non-working public holidays in Slovakia for the calendar year 2018, as released last summer by Slovakia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2017-07-26).
