The UAE Government has announced that the annual non-working public holiday for the upcoming Israa wal Mairaj would fall on a weekend day, Saturday, April 14, 2018, and that no day in lieu would be given in compensation.
In the past (2017-04-09, 2016-04-14, 2014-05-13, 2014-01-05, 2011-11-24, 2011-06-14, and 2011-02-07), though not always (2015-05-07), the date for the Israa wal Mairaj UAE public holiday was moved around to adjoin a nearby weekend, in accordance with Article No. 100 of the Cabinet Law No. 13, "which allows carrying over an official holiday to the beginning or end of the week if it falls between two working days", and thus amends the annual list of expected non-working public holidays in the UAE for the calendar year 2018 as released late last year (2018-01-08).
