The Algerian Direction générale de la Fonction publique et de la Réforme administrative et du ministère du Travail, de l’Emploi et de la Sécurité sociale has announced that Wednesday, January 1, 2020, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria ("journée chômée et payée") on account of the upcoming Western New Year of the upcoming calendar year 2020.
The aforementioned announcement that Wednesday, January 1, 2020, had been declared as a non-working public holiday in Algeria ("journée chômée et payée") on account of the Western New Year non-working public holiday, applies, as usual (2017-12-27 and 2016-12-27), to both the private and public sector.
No mention has been made, yet, of a declaration of January 12, the upcoming Amazigh (aka. Berber) New Year, as a new public holiday in Algeria.
The Amazigh New Year was approved as a new annual public holiday in Algeria, by Algeria's Council of Ministers, and then by Algeria's Popular Assembly (APN), a couple of years ago (2018-03-11, 2018-01-10 and 2017-12-27)
