Armenian Parliament Votes New April Holiday

The Armenian Parliament has approved the bill presented by the government amending the law on holidays and commemoration days, with the declaration of a new holiday, the Day of the Citizen of the Republic of Armenia.

Last month (2019-03-21), the Armenian government had approved a bill amending the law on holidays and commemoration days, with the declaration of a new holiday, the Day of the Citizen of the Republic of Armenia and called an extraordinary session of parliament yesterday to vote the matter.

According to justice minister Artak Zeynalyan, the aforementioned holiday "will be celebrated on the last Saturday of April. In case when May 1 coincides with Saturday, the Citizen’s Day will be celebrated on the last Sunday of April".
