In the past week, various Cambodian ministries have stated that the government of Cambodia was about to slash the number of annual non-working public holidays in Cambodia, by seven days.

Reportedly, the Cambodian Minister of Industry and Handicraft, Cham Prasidh, even went as far as stating that the sub-decree for deducting seven days would be issued at the end of this month, while other ministries have pointed-out that the National Committee for Organising National and International Festivals would be the authority in charge of the draft of the sub-decree, and not the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft.

Currently, the 2019 public holidays in Cambodia (2019-01-02 and 2018-11-26) are augmented by one annual public holiday, following last year's Cambodian Royal Government's Sub-Decree No.19 (2018-02-19) declaring a new annual non-working public holiday in Cambodia, the National Day of Remembrance, on May 20th.
