The Ministry of Justice of Estonia has submitted a proposal to the government to declare Monday, March 25, 2019, as a one-off national holiday in Estonia.
March 25, 2019, marks the 70th anniversary of Operation Priboi whereby the Soviet Union deported over twenty thousand Estonians to Siberia.
The last time the list of Estonian non-working public holidays (1998-01-27) was modified was in 2005, when Estonia's parliament approved the Public and National Holidays Act, § 2 and § Work and Rest Law Amendment Act 25 (RT I 2005, 24, 185) which declared December 24 as a new annual public holiday (2005-04-15).
