The government of Indonesia has extended the period of consecutive non-working Ramadan public holidays to 11 days, from Thursday, May 30, until Sunday, June 9, 2019, inclusively, for the Indonesian public sector.

The original list of 2019 public holidays in Indonesia (2018-11-15), in a decree from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, and the Ministry of Administrative Reform, designated 4 additional days of joint leave (Cuti Bersama), the same as was the case for recent past years (2017-04-18, 2016-12-28, 2016-04-14, 2015-06-26, 2014-05-07, 2014-10-24, 2015-02-22 and 2013-08-23), but in line with what was done the other years (2018-11-15, 2012-07-20 and 2011-07-14), when there were 5.

The Cuti Bersama were introduced after the 2002 Bali bombings (2002-11-07) to promote internal tourism as a means to compensate diminishing foreign tourism.
