Maldives February 7 Public Holiday

The Maldives Chief Communications Strategist at the President’s Office and the President’s Spokesperson, Ibrahim Hoodh, have announced this Monday that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has declared Thursday, February 7, 2019, a one-off non-working public holiday in the Maldives, on account of the day of the formal inauguration of the Parliament for the year 2019.

During 5 years (2013-02-25, 2012-02-22, 2011-02-22, 2010-02-22 and 2009-03-02), but not one year year (2014-02-28), then again one year (2015-02-28), former Maldives' Presidents had declared one-off non-working public holidays on the date of the first sitting of the People's Majlis of the year, although that date had not been included in the list of official public holidays in the Maldives for the same year (2014-01-08, 2013-01-07, 2012-01-06, 2011-01-04, 2010-01-05, and 2009-01-06).
