The Maldives' President, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, has declared Sunday, April 7, 2019, as a one-off non-working public holiday in the Maldives, on account of the Parliamentary Election, the day before ("since a number of government employees and citizens would be working tirelessly at the Parliamentary Election on Saturday, April 6th").

Election-related holidays are a staple of life in the Maldives (21-Jan-2019, 12-Aug-2018 and 10-Aug-2018, 12-Aug-2018, 06-May-2017, 16-Nov-2013, 05-Sep-2013, 30-Apr-2009, 15-Oct-2008, 12-Oct-2008, 02-Oct-2008, 17-Sep-2008).
