The President of the Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, has declared Sunday, July 28, 2019, and Thursday, August 15, 2019, as a one-off non-working public holidays in the Maldives.
As per the aforementioned announcement, Sunday, July 28, 2019, was declared a one-off non-working public holidays in the Maldives "due to a large number of students, civil servants, and public sector staff participating in the Independence Day celebratory events", while Thursday, August 15, 2019, was declared a one-off non-working public holidays in the Maldives "to allow Eid Holidays to continue uninterrupted so that all students and workers who wish to travel and visit their families and friends on the occasion of Eid-al-Al'ha Eid can do so with ease".
Recall that Sunday are ordinarily a regular working day in the Maldives.
