Philippines End of Ramadan Public Holiday June 5

Source: Philippine Information Agency (Manila)
Posted: Wednesday, May 29, 2019

Philippines President, Rodrigo Duterte, had issued Proclamation 729 declaring Wednesday, June 5, 2019, as the date of the upcoming Eid'l Fitr (End of Ramadan) annual non-working public holiday of the Philippines, in accordance with Republic Act 9177.

Last summer (2018-08-17), Philippines President, Rodrigo Duterte signed Proclamation No. 555, s. 2018 which listed the special and regular public holidays in the Philippines for the calendar year 2019, and included a slot to be filled-in for the Eid'l Fitr (End of Ramadan) non-working public holiday added to the list of Philippines public holidays a decade ago (2002-01-23).

Contrary to the announcement of Tuesday, July 29, 2014, as the date of the 2014 Eid'l Fitr annual non-working public holiday in the Philippines (2014-07-14), which generated flak from the Muslim Community (2014-07-17), we do not expect this year's announced date to do so, as the past 4 years also did not either (2018-06-07, 2017-06-16, 2016-07-04 and 2015-07-09).
