The Romanian Government has announced that it was considering the declaration of Friday, August 16, 2019, as a one-off non-working public sector holiday, throughout Romania, to link the August 15, feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, public holiday of Romania, with the following weekend.

The declaration of Friday, August 16, 2019, as a one-off bridge public holiday in Romania, would amend the lists of public holidays for 2019 in Romania (2019-01-04), once more (2019-03-29 and 2018-02-25), though only for the Romanian public sector.

The aforementioned possible declaration of Friday, August 16, 2019, as a one-off non-working public sector holiday, throughout Romania, to link the August 15, feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, public holiday of Romania, with the following weekend, will be discussed at the upcoming cabinet meeting.
