Sri Lankan Day In Lieu Public Holiday April 15

The Sri Lankan Minister of Home Affairs has announced that the Sri Lankan Government had decided to declare Monday, April 15, 2019, as a day in lieu non-working public holiday in Sri Lanka in view of the annual Sinhala and Tamil New Year public holidays of Sri Lanka falling on a weekend in 2019.

The aforementioned announcement by the Sri Lankan Minister of Home Affairs has announced that the Sri Lankan Government had decided to declare Monday, April 15, 2019, as a day in lieu non-working public holiday in Sri Lanka in view of the annual Sinhala and Tamil New Year public holidays of Sri Lanka falling on a weekend in 2019, thus officially amends the official list of Sri Lankan public holidays for the calendar year 2019 as announced last year (2018-07-01).

Day in lieu non-working public holidays have often been declared by the Government of Sri Lanka due to the annual Sinhala and Tamil New Year public holidays of Sri Lanka falling on or near a weekend (2016-05-02, 2016-04-29, 2016-04-11, 2014-04-02, 2013-04-11, 2013-03-30, 2013-03-29, 2011-04-06, 2009-03-24, 2008-04-08).
