Sri Lanka's Government Information Department has issued a special statement ruling-out the declaration of Friday, October 4, 2019, as a one-off non-working public holiday in Sri Lanka.

A number of fake social media posts had been circulating, claiming that Friday, October 4, 2019, had been declared as a one-off non-working public holiday in Sri Lanka, in contradiction of the official list of Sri Lankan public holidays for the calendar year 2019, as announced last year (2008-05-01).
