The government of Timor Leste has announced that it had decided to declare a non-working public holiday in Timor Leste, on Thursday, June 6, 2019, on account of the upcoming Idul Fitri (End of Ramadan) celebrations.
As per the aforementioned announcement, "the Government of Timor-Leste declared, through Order No. 02/2019/I/PCM, June 6, 2019 as a national holiday, in order to allow our People to participate in prayers and festivities together with their Muslim brothers".
According to the Secretariat of State of the Council of Ministers of Timor Leste, this decision is based on law No.10/2005, which overhauled Timor Leste's public holidays (2005-08-12) and the list of official public holidays in Timor Leste for the calendar year 2019, which was announced at the beginning of this year (2019-02-08).
