The government of Tonga has issued a communiqué declaring a non-working public holiday in Tonga, on Thursday, September 19, 2019, on the date of the funeral of the late Prime Minister of Tonga, Akilisi Pohiva.
The aforementioned declaration of a public holiday in Tonga, on Thursday, September 19, 2019, on the date of the funeral of the late Prime Minister of Tonga, Akilisi Pohiva, is in addition to Tonga's Ministry of Information and Communications communiqué announcing the official list of non-working public holidays in Tonga for the calendar year 2019, announced early this year (2019-01-10), and with the terms of the "Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2010" (Act No. 10 of 2010) which amended the public holidays legislation of Tonga (2010-05-19 and 2010-04-08).
