The Ministry of Communications of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago has announced that President Paula-Mae Weekes had declared Sunday, October 27, 2019, as a non-working public holiday in Trinidad and Tobago, on account of the upcoming 2019 Divali annual public holiday of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Divali public holiday of Trinidad and Tobago had been included in the official list of Trinidad and Tobago bank holidays and of non-working public holidays for the calendar year 2019, which was released by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago earlier this year (2019-01-17).
Though the press release issued by the Ministry of Communications does not mention it, according to the Public Holidays and Festivals Act, Chapter 19:05, 3. (2) "Where a public holiday falls on a Sunday or where two public holidays fall on the same day, the next following day that (apart from this subsection) is not a public holiday shall be a public holiday" and therefore Monday, October 28, 2019, will also be a non-working public holiday in Trinidad and Tobago.
