Tripura Adds Last King Of Tripura Annual Public Holiday

Following yesterday's publication of the list of 2020 public holidays in Tripura, the Government of the Indian State of Tripura has announced that, beginning in 2020, May 1st would no longer be an annual public holiday in Tripura, and would be replaced by a public holiday on August 19 to mark the birthday of Bir Bikram, the last king of the Manikya dynasty Maharaj Bir Bikram Kishore.

The list of 2020 public holidays in Tripura is contained in the Government Notification No.F.17(5)-GA (SA)/2019/5192, signed by S.K. Debbarma, the Under Secretary to the Government of Tripura, and it included for the first time an August 19 public holiday for the Birthday of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur Deb Burman (2019-11-08).
