The General Administration Department of the State Government of India's state of Assam, via the Notification No.GAGA).139/2015/230, has declared a one-off public holiday on Thursday, December 17, 2020, as an electoral public holiday on account of the election to the General Council of Tiwa Autonomous Council, 2020 ("In the interest of public services, the Governor of Assam is pleased to declare Public Holiday on 17th December,2020 (day of poll) under Section 25 of N.I. Act, 1881 (XXIV 0(1881) read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No.20/25/Pub-l dated 8h June 1957 within the jurisdiction· of Tiwa Autonomous Council Area Districts on account of the election to the General Council of Tiwa Autonomous Council,2020. All the Govt./ Non Govt. Offices, PRls, Urban Local Bodies, Educational Institutions, and Business Establishments including Banks, Tea Garde and Industries etc. within the specified jurisdiction will remain closed on the day of poll accordingly.").
Today's announcement, signed in the name of the Governor of Assam, by M.S.Manivannan, Commissioner and Secretary to the Govt. of Assam, further extends (2020-11-25, 2020-11-11 and 2020-11-07) the list of Assam 2020 public holidays which was released late last year (2019-12-01), in the Government Notification No.GAG(A).81/2016/494).
