Bangladesh' state minister for public administration, Farhad Hossain, has announced that the government of Bangladesh would in all likelihood extend the current coronavirus public holidays until May 16, 2020, for both the public and private sectors ("We have proposed further extension of the holiday for another 10 days as the COVID-19 infection keeps rising").
In March (2020-03-23), the government of Bangladesh initially declared non-working public holidays from March 26 to April 4, 2020, for both the public and private sectors, as part of its measures to slow the spread of the Covid19 virus, thus amending the announced list of non-working public holidays in Bangladesh in 2020, which was released last fall by the Ministry of Public Administration, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (2019-11-25 and 2019-10-29).
The initially announced period of public holidays in Bangladesh was then extended until April 14, 2020 (2020-04-03), then until April 25, 2020 (2020-04-10), and most recently until May 6 (2020-04-23).
