The government of Benin has released a communiqué, signed by Benin's Minister of Labour and of the Public Sector, Adidjatou Mathys, announcing that the government of Bénin had declared Monday, June 1st, 2020, as a non-working public holiday throughout Bénin on account of the upcoming "fête de la Pentecôte" annual non-working public holiday of Bénin ("fête chrétienne qui marque la descente de l’Esprit-Saint sur les apôtres").
The aforementioned declaration of Monday, June 1st, 2020, as a non-working public holiday throughout Bénin ("A l’occasion de la fête de Pentecôte et conformément à la disposition de la loi N°90 – 019 du 27 Juillet 1990 fixant les fêtes légales en République du Bénin, la journée du lundi est chômée et fériée sur l’ensemble du territoire"), as on previous occasions (2019-06-06 and 2019-05-27), is in line with the previously-announced list of annual non-working public holidays in the Benin for the calendar year 2020, as announced by the government of Benin, earlier this year (2020-01-06), as well as with the "loi n°90-019 du 27 juillet 1990 fixant les fêtes légales en République du Bénin".
