The department of information and public relations of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) government has issued a communiqué, advising the public that "the Territory will observe Whit Monday on Monday, June 1 in accordance with Section 5 (b) of the Public Holidays Act (Cap 199), as amended".
The aforementioned announcement that Whit Monday would be observed as a public holiday, is in line with last autumn's annual list of, and dates of, official non-working public holidays for 2020 in the British Virgin Islands (2019-10-01), as announced by the cabinet of the British Virgin Islands, in accordance with Section 5 of the Public Holidays Act (2018-10-19, 2017-11-07, 2016-10-13, 2015-10-05, 2014-09-15, 2013-10-11, 2012-10-20 and 2011-09-23).
