The government of Burundi, in a Presidential Decree released earlier today, has declared Monday, August 24, 2020, as a one-off public holiday in Burundi, on account of the "journée de l’élection des conseils de collines ou quartiers et des chefs de collines ou quartiers".
The usually quiet world of Burundi public holidays was already changed twice this year, first when then Burundi's President, Pierre Nkurunziza, declared Wednesday, May 20, 2020, as a one-off public holiday in Burundi, on account of the then upcoming presidential, legislative and communal elections being held on that date (2020-05-19), and later on account of the funeral of th same President Nkurunziza (2020-06-22).
