The Government of Croatia has confirmed the observance of Vukovar Remembrance Day, a new annual public holiday, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020.
The aforementioned Vukovar Remembrance Day public holiday, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, is in line with the annual list of official non-working public holidays in Croatia for the calendar year 2020, as released by the government of Croatia, earlier this year (2020-01-31).
The list of 2020 public holidays of Croatia contains the long-discussed elimination of the June 25 annual public holiday (2012-02-09), as part of amendments to the Croatian law on public holidays, declaring a new Vukovar Remembrance Day national non-working public holiday in Croatia, and shifting the dates of the Independence Day and Statehood Day holidays of Croatia.
These amendments, introduced a year ago (2019-11-13, 2019-10-10 and 2019-10-07), were incorporated into the Law on Holidays, Remembrances and Non-working Days in the Republic of Croatia ("Zakon o blagdanima, spomendanima i neradnim danima u Republici Hrvatskoj"), which was signed into law by the president of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the following month (2019-11-19).
