The Minister of Public Health of the Dominican Republic, Plutarco Arias, has announced that the Dominican Republic government was considering declaring Thursday, December 24, and Thursday, December 31, 2020, as one-off additional public holidays ("Queremos que la ciudadanía disfrute de la celebración de la Navidad y el 31").

The aforementioned declaration of Thursday, December 24, and Thursday, December 31, 2020, would amend last autumn's official listing of public holidays in the Dominican Republic for the year 2020 (2019-11-10).
