Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, has announced that Thursday, October 8, 2020, would be a paid public holiday for both the public and private sector employees of Egypt "in commemoration of the 6 October War victory".
Once again (2020-06-28 and 2020-04-29), the aforementioned announcement of the shifting of the October 6 public holiday to October 8, 2020, amends the list of 2020 bank holidays in Egypt, as announced by Egypt's Central Bank, earlier this year (2020-01-13), but in line with the statement by Cabinet spokesman, Nader Saad, earlier this year, "that the government decided to make Thursday a day off instead of any week-day holiday to give citizens a chance to have a long weekend", an approach that spokesman Saad went on to state, "will apply to all national holidays in the coming period, except for Eid Al-Fitr, Eid Al-Adha and Christmas".
