Egypt's Dar El-Iftaa, the institution responsible for religious edicts, has announced that the first day of the Islamic lunar month of Dhu Al-Hijjah would occur on Wednesday, July 22, 2020, meaning that the upcoming public holidays for Eid El-Adha, or the feast of sacrifice, would be Friday, July 31, 2020.
On the occasion of the recent Eid El-Fitr public holidays, the Egyptian government declared an extended 5-day period as public sector holidays for Egyptian government workers (2020-05-17) and this was later extended to the private sector by the Egyptian minister of manpower, Mohamed Saafan (2020-05-18).
