The supervisory body in charge of the banking sector in Guatemala (the Superintendencia de Bancos de Guatemala) has announced that Monday, October 12, 2020, had been declared as a bank holiday in Guatemala, on account of the annual Columbus Day bank holiday (Día en que se conmemora el descubrimiento de América por el navegante Cristóbal Colón).
The aforementioned announcement is in line with the list of annual bank holidays in Guatemala and afferent rules thereto, as announced a decade ago (2009-12-17) in the "Reglamento de Asuetos de las Instituciones Bancarias que operan en la República (Resolución JM-129-2009)", as well as with the list of official bank holidays for the calendar year 2020 in Guatemala released earlier this year (2019-11-17) and re-confirmed this past summer (2020-06-26).
