The government of the Indian State of Himachal Pradesh, via the Government Order No. GAD- A(F)12-1/2020, signed by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Himachal Pradesh, Anil Kumar Khachi, has announced the public holidays and restricted holidays to be observed in the State of Himachal Pradesh as gazetted holidays during the upcoming calendar year 2021.
The aforementioned notification of the annual list of the days which will be non-working public holidays in India's state of Himachal Pradesh for the upcoming calendar year 2021, contained in the Government Notification No. GAD- A(F)12-1/2020, reads as follows in its preamble: "The Governor, Himachal Pradesh is pleased to order that the holidays as listed in Annexure-I, will be observed as ‘Gazetted Holidays’ during the Calendar Year-2021, in the State of Himachal Pradesh.".
The Annexure III of the Government Order No. GAD- A(F)12-1/2020 contains the list of Restricted Holidays in 2021 in Himachal Pradesh ("The Deputy Commissioners in the State are authorized to declare two local holidays within their jurisdiction during the Year 2021 in connection with celebration of important fairs and festivals in the respective District/ Area. However, for the offices situated within the Municipal limits of Shimla, two local holidays will be declared by the State Government after receiving proposal in this regard from the Deputy Commissioner, Shimla and for the rest of the areas of District Shimla, two local holidays will be declared/decided by the Deputy Commissioner, Shimla as per past practice. For the Offices of H.P. Government situated at Delhi, two local holidays will be declared by the State Government after receiving proposal from Pr. Resident Commissioner, H.P., New Delhi.").
It also includes some holidays that are restricted to women ("Gazetted Holidays for the Year-2021 for women employees working in all Government Offices / Boards/Corporations/Educational Institutions in H.P. These will also be holidays for women employees under Section 25 of Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 and also to daily waged women employees.").
The list of 2021 public holidays in the Indian State of Himachal Pradesh, as contained in the GAD-A(F)9-2/2019, may be amended, later in the year, as was the case for the list of Himachal Pradesh public holidays of last year (2019-09-26, 2019-09-07, 2019-05-01, and 2019-04-15).
