The Chief Minister of India's state of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Singh Rawat, has approved a proposal to declare Thursday, July 16, 2020, as a non-working public holiday in Uttarakhand, on account of the Harela festival, which had earlier been listed as a restricted holiday in India's state of Uttarakhand.
Harela is a harvest festival which is marked by planting of saplings.
The aforementioned declaration of Harela as a public holiday on Thursday, July 16, 2020, is in addition to the annual list of the days which will be non-working public holidays in India's state of Uttarakhand for the upcoming calendar year 2020 ("In exercise of the powers conferred by the explanation of Section 25 of Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (Central Act 26 of 1881) read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No.1079/xxxi(15)G-74/2016-19, the Government of Uttarakhand hereby declares the days to be public holidays during the calendar year 2020"), is contained in a Notification issued by the Government of Uttarakhand, covering Government Holidays and Restricted Holidays in India's state of Uttarakhand for the upcoming calendar year 2020 (2020-01-15), as in past years (2018-12-31, 2017-12-16 and 2016-11-13).
As mentioned when we originally announced the list of 2020 public holidays in Uttarakhand, subsequent changes to the list of annual public holidays, government holidays and bank holidays, in India's state of Uttarakhand, are always possible (2019-11-01, 2019-06-05 and 2019-03-20).
