The Government of India's State of Telangana has issued the G.O.Rt.No.1609, signed by Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary to Government, which declares Monday, October 26, 2020, as the date of the upcoming Vijay Dasami public holiday in Telangana, instead of the previously-declared date of October 25 ("After careful consideration of the matter, have decided to change the General Holiday for ‘Vijay Dasami’ festival to 26 October 2020 (Monday) instead of 25 October 2020 (Sunday). Accordingly, the following notification is issued and shall be published in the extraordinary Gazette of Telangana State").

The aforementioned change to the date of the 2020 Vijay Dasami public holiday in Telangana, is the latest in a long string of changes to the list of 2020 public holidays in India's State of Telangana, ever since the "Holidays- General Holidays and Optional Holidays for the year 2020 – Notified" (G.O.Rt.No. 3022 dated 21.11.2019), officially listed the annual non-working public holidays to be observed in the Indian State of Telangana for the calendar year 2020 (2019-11-22).

In fact, the 2020 Vijay Dasami public holiday (aka. Dussehra or Dasara) in Telangana has already undergone changes since the list of 2020 Telangana public holidays was announced.

In March (2020-03-09), the date of the 2020 Dussehra public holiday in Telangana, was moved from October 25 to October 26, 2020, just as today's G.O.Rt.No.1609 does ("With reference to above cited letters, The DoPT Vide OM dated: 20.12.2019 has changed Closed Holiday from 25th October, 2020 (Sunday) to 26th October, 2020 (Monday) on account of the “Dussehra” to all Central Government offices in Telangana state").

But, then, a couple of months later (2020-05-16), the initial promotion of the Dussera restricted holiday to the status of a general public holiday in the Indian State of Telangana, in 2020, was repealed ("With above reference (i) circular was issued for observing Dussera festival as Closed Holiday on 26th October, 2020 (Monday) in State of Telangana. However, with above reference (ii) it has been directed by the Ministry of personnel, Public Grievances and pensions (Department of Personnel and Training), Establishment (JCA-2) Section that 26th October, 2020 (Monday) will remain as Restricted Holiday and can not be treated as Closed Holiday in central Government offices").

Other changes to the list of Telangana public holidays in 2020 include a lockdown period of public holidays (2020-03-21), a public holiday on Friday, October 9, 2020, for the MLC election day (2020-10-06) and 2 days of public holidays on Wednesday and Thursday, October 14-15, 2020, "due to unprecedented incessant rains for the last 12 hours and imminent forecast of heavy rains in Telangana State" (2020-10-14).
